Using blocks, bolsters and blankets in seated and supine yoga positions, the poses are held for several minutes, allowing the body to stretch in a more passive, more gentle manner. Restorative Yoga has been known to help reduce pain, improve digestion, calm the mind, improve sleep and help individuals feel more grounded and energized. Restorative yoga is good for individuals recovering from certain illness and injuries…and can also be an excellent complement to a more active yoga practice.

Modified Primary Series - preregistration required (not currently offered)
The “trimmed down” versions of the primary series (otherwise known as MPS) is an ashtanga based, set series of asanas which include sun salutations, standing and seated postures. Developed by Jois, ashtanga yoga is a more vigorous vinyasa practice with plenty of opportunities to build strength and endurance, as well as flexibility. We begin with a warm-up series of sun salutations to build up heat. The standing series promotes balance and symmetry in the body and aids in the process of detoxification and toning of the body. The seated postures continue this process with a large focus on forward folds. There is also a great emphasis on alignment. You can expect to improve your breathing, your strength and balance and much more while benefiting from the detoxification of the body and calming of the spirit. As with any yoga practice, modifications and props are available.
Meditation - not currently offered
This class will help students learn the art of mindfulness and learn how to teach the mind to relax.
